James Dolnik is entering his 16th year in music education in Texas. He is the Director of Bands at Mayde Creek High School and the conductor of the Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble and overall coordinator and conductor for the Mighty Ram Marching Band.
Mr. Dolnik, a native of Texas, graduated from Sam Houston State University where his teachers included Dr. Gary Sousa, Dr. Fisher Tull, Dr. Newton Strandberg and Dr. Rod Cannon. His private instructors included Mr. Lamar Burkhalter and Mr. Gregg Rinehart.
While in college, he competed in The Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps from Hutchinson Kansas, The Cavilers from Rosemont Illinois, and the Concord Blue Devils from Concord California. He also taught the front ensemble with the Sky Ryders in 1992.
Previous to his appointment at Mayde Creek, Mr. Dolnik directed at Memorial High School in Spring Branch ISD, and Calallen High School and Middle School in Corpus Christi.
Professional affiliations for Mr. Dolnik include the Texas Bandmasters Association, the Texas Music Educators Association, and the Texas Music Adjudicators Association. Mr. Dolnik is also a member of the Houston Texans Bull Pen Pep Band.
Mr. Dolnik is supported his wife, Barbie, and their two children, Brittany and Jamie, who are in the band program at Mayde Creek Junior High.and Mayde Creek High School. The entire family likes to swim, enjoy their pets and visit the Walt Disney World Resort on a regular basis.
