Mr. Danny Rivera

      Before coming to Mayde Creek in 2002, Mr. Rivera began his teaching career in 1998 and taught in the Tuloso Midway Independent School District in Corpus Christi , Texas . There, Mr. Rivera was director of the Symphonic Band at Tuloso Midway High School and was percussion director for the district for grades 6 through 12. Under his direction, Tuloso Midway High School and Tuloso Midway Middle School Percussion Ensembles were consistent in receiving Superior ratings at all UIL and percussion ensemble festivals during his tenure in the district. The Tuloso Midway High School Drumline was also consistent in earning awards at various marching band and drumline contests throughout the state. In addition, the Symphonic Band received excellent and superior ratings at UIL contests and festivals. Currently, Mr. Rivera is serving as Assistant Band Director and Percussion Director for Mayde Creek High School where his duties include directing the Symphonic Band, over seeing the percussion program and writing, arranging and directing the MCHS Ram Band Drumline. In the spring, Mr. Rivera directs the Percussion Ensembles which are active and compete in the TCGC and WGI circuits as well as performing in their annual Night of Percussion Concert. Mr. Rivera also teaches the sixth grade beginning percussion class at Mayde Creek Junior High.

Mr. Rivera is currently endorsed by Vic Firth Sticks and Mallets and holds professional affiliations with the Texas Music Educators Association and the Texas Bandmasters Association.

Mr. Rivera holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State ) in San Marcos .
